FRIDAY TIDBIT: ABS Wheel Speed Sensor

This is a wheel speed sensor, ABS wheel speed sensor, or anti lock brake wheel speed sensor

It is an A/C electric generator that creates its own a/c voltage. It puts out ac pulses on a frequency that the ABS computer monitors. When you go faster it puts out a higher frequency and is translated to the speed of the wheel. When a wheel skids or stops, the computer senses that and goes into anti-lock mode.

You have one at every wheel, but on some trucks you have RWAL or rear wheel anti-lock and have only one sensor on the rear end. They sense the rear wheels only not one on each wheel.
