FRIDAY TIDBIT: Intake Manifold



Intake Manifold

The Intake manifold is the part on the engine where the fuel is in the vapor form as it enters the combustion part of the engine, or the cylinder of the engine.
The intake manifold delivers the air fuel mixture to the engine on a carbureted and throttle body type engine.
On a fuel injection engine the intake delivers only air to the engine.

FRIDAY TIDBIT: Transfer Case

The transfer case is the part on four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles that transfers power to both front and rear wheels.

Some have separate gears in them that allow the vehicle to be put in and out of four wheel drive; others are full time four wheel drive and can not be put into two wheel.

FRIDAY TIDBIT: Clutches

A clutch is the part that separates the engine from the transmission on manual transmission vehicles.

There are two main parts to the clutch: The Pressure Plate, and the Clutch Disc.

• The pressure plate smashes the clutch disc against the flywheel of the engine when engaged.
• When the clutch pedal is pushed down it releases the pressure off the clutch disc.
