Day Of Service to Celebrate ACDelco 100 Years
Along with fifteen other auto repair shops nationwide, we dedicated our entire workday yesterday as a Day Of Service, and focused solely on serving families in our community. This event was all in honor of ACDelco's 100 years in business, and auto repairs for these families were made possible in part by ACDelco.
ACDelco partnered with the Safe Kids Coalition to locate families in our community that were in dire need of auto repairs.
"What a special day it is that we could be part of the ACDelco day of service to celebrate their 100 year anniversary," said Mark Gines, owner of Gines Auto Service. "It's wonderful as a local business owner that we can give back to our community, and we wish we could do more."
The technicians expected to address a lot of maintenance needs, but saw too many repair needs. Safety issues on the vehicles were put as a higher priority and addressed first. Keeping the families in our community safe was the sole focus of this Day Of Service.
Safe Kids also participated in our Day Of Service by providing car seat checks and education to the families in attendance. They presented important vehicle safety information such as staying safe in and around vehicles during the hot summer months, the importance of buckling up, and even gave away car seats to those in need of new or updated ones.
Our technicians worked hard all day to make sure the highest priority auto repairs were completed by the end of the day to get the selected families back on the road with a safe vehicle to drive. |
Senator Karen Mayne posted about the event on her Facebook page: ""KUDOS'" Gines Service partnering with Safe Kids and ACDELCO furnishing free car repairs to selected low income residents!!!!! Businesses helping their community. "Bravo" |
"Owner Mark Gines was happy for the chance to give back to the community," Mayor McAdams said in his blog post about the event. "It was great to meet the family and visit with folks getting their cars repaired. Local businesses are at the heart of communities."
Mark Gines talks with Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams about the three generations of shop ownership and how helping the community is a big part of the business. |
Local media coverage about the Day Of Service was provided by KSTU Fox 13, KUTV Channel 2, and Telemundo 10 Utah news channels.
Thank you Mayor McAdams for spreading the word of how important these kinds of services are to the community. |

GIVEAWAY: Christmas In Color Admissions
One of the best Christmas light displays in Utah this year is in our very own hometown of Kearns, Utah! The Christmas In Color spectacular lights display is new this year, and is being talked about all over social media! You can find it by the Utah Olympic Oval just down the street from Kearns High School.
We’ve been to many of the other drive-through light displays, and this one is different in the fact that it not only has what the others have with lights synchronized to music, but new elements that I’ve never seen before such as multiple light tunnels, which were definitely our favorite element of the production.

The workshop we are holding is specifically for educating you on taking care of your vehicle, with topics such as those listed above.
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Because this class is great for drivers, especially beginning drivers, we ask that you be at least 15-16 years old to attend. This class is held in our shop area, and there are too many hazards for young children.
Why is this event for women only?
We have had this question asked many times. Due to an overwhelming response from past attendees, this workshop is created for women only because the feedback that we have received is that women feel more comfortable asking questions and learning if this event is created as a "girls' night out" type of atmosphere.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
We will be doing hands-on activities, so dress appropriately. Your best clothes are probably not the best choice for this workshop. We will provide you with handouts and pen/paper for taking notes.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Contact michelle@ginesautoservice.com with any questions.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes. Once you reserve your spot, if you are not able to attend, you can assign somebody else to take your place. Email michelle@ginesautoservice.com to transfer your ticket to somebody else.

Car Wash Fundraiser for Miss Amazing Utah, Holli Hunt
You may have caught the KUTV 2News at 10 story "Beauty Queen Rocks Judges From Wheelchair" a few weeks ago. If not, you can watch the entire story on their website.
A few months ago, Holli Hunt competed in the Utah Miss Amazing pageant. When Mark Gines heard about the pageant, he immediately thought of Holli with her contagious smile and infectious personality, and knew she would be perfect for what the judges were looking for.
The Utah Miss Amazing pageant celebrates girls and women with disabilities like Holli's. She was born with Spina Bifida and lives most of her life in her wheelchair. The mission of Miss Amazing Inc. is to provide opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to build self-confidence in a supportive environment.
This summer Holli will be traveling to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in the national Miss Amazing competition, but she needs our help!
We will be holding a car wash fundraiser this Saturday, June 14th, from 10am to 2pm in front of our shop in Kearns. Our address is 4261 W 5415 So. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Holli to fund her trip.

This Year’s Christmas Tree: “Until All The Pieces Fit”
Every year, we attend the opening auction night of Festival Of Trees, and purchase a tree to display in our office. This year’s tree, “Until All The Pieces Fit”, is now on display! Stop by our office during regular business hours and check out the amazing time and details put into it by those that decorated and donated it.
The theme of this tree is puzzles, which is to raise awareness for autism. It was donated and decorated by the Holbrook and Johnston families, in honor of two year old Devin. “My autism does not define me. I define autism. I am Devin!”
These cute little boy was diagnosed early with autism, and due to the early intervention program and therapists at Primary Children’s Hospital, he is thriving.
1 out of 47 children in Utah are diagnosed with autism. Chances are, most of us have somebody in our family or know of somebody with autism. This is why this tree jumped out at us at the Festival, and moved us to purchase it for display this year.
Inscription on the back of the drawing to the right:
My two-year old son was the inspiration and model for this drawing. At this age, he was just beginning to learn about himself and what the world has to offer. I believe that this self-exploration and development continues throughout our lives in our quest to make ourselves whole. When we keep our minds open to new experiences, we are continually “putting it together”.
